Fall New Wine Release and Barrel Tasting

Our Fall Release and Barrel Tasting will be on Saturday November 20 and Sunday November 21 from 1:00-5:00 pm.  We have three new highly acclaimed vineyard-designate red wines for you to enjoy, along with a few barrel samples.

2019 Mistral Grenache, Ciel du Cheval Vineyard, Red Mountain: Our 6th vintage of Mistral displays a medium brick red color and rich aromas of strawberry, red currant, pomegranate, crushed roses, bright leaf tobacco, Provençal lavender, Niçoise olives and lightly spiced incense. The flavors are medium bodied but substantial, with supple red fruits that are intermixed with licorice, cocoa powder, orange pekoe tea and Red Mountain dusty earth. On the back, the wine turns velvety with pressed berries, roasted nuts, framboise and cassis liqueurs, pomegranate seeds and soft charcoal, followed by a ripe moderate tannin finish.  Acclaim: 18.5 Points--Review of Washington Wine    Retail $33  BUY NOW

2018 Old Vine Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Boushey Vineyard, Yakima Valley: Our first reserve wine is from old 1980 Cabernet vines planted in the highly acclaimed Boushey Vineyard.  The wine was aged for 22 months in a single new French oak barrel (Boutes Grand Reserve) followed by 15 months of bottle aging.  Deep ruby colored, this wine emits intoxicating aromas of blackberries, old tree cherries, Damson plums, crushed black roses, mulberry, sweet tobacco, cedar, sandalwood, black olive, wild violets and smoldering oriental incense. On the palate, the flavors are authoritative yet accessible, showing considerable old vine character, marked by licorice root, dark cacao, roasted coffee beans and minerals. The penetration continues on the back with sensations of macerated fruits, grilled walnuts, mocha, kirsch and cassis liqueurs, lanolin (“legs”) and light oak, followed by a lengthy sweet-dry tannin finish. The range of flavors gives it a plus.  Only 21 cases of this special wine are available, just for wine club members.  Acclaim: 19+ Points-Review of Washington Wines     Retail $49 (Wine Club Only)  BUY NOW

2019 Fly Rod Cellars Muddler Minnow Mourvedre’, Weinbau Vineyard, Wahluke Slope: Fly Rod Cellars is an occasional project of our Cellarmaster John Richardson and Assistant Winemaker Troy Mandeville. This Mourvèdre presents a deep ruby color and intoxicating aromas of raspberry, huckleberry, black currant, blood orange, crushed roses, pipe tobacco, garrigue, olive tapenade, wild violets and spiced incense. The flavors are fleshy and generous, yet deep, with copious red fruits that are intermixed with red licorice, cocoa powder, black tea and Wahluke scorched earth. On the back, the wine tightens up a bit with macerated berries, grilled nuts, recurring orange peel and touches of leather and brunt charcoal, followed by a Bandol-like spicy sweet-dry tannin finish that is bolstered by bright fruit acids. Acclaim: 97 Points—Bellingham Wine Awards;  18.5+ Points-Review of Washington Wines     Retail $33  BUY NOW
