Taste Washington-Week 4

Taste Washington is a celebration of all that makes our state so delicious. One of our favorite and simple family recipes is Bar-B-Cups.  These easy to make and easy to eat stuffed biscuits are filling and tasty.  Enjoy with a bottle of Virga while planning a wine tasting trip to the Snoqualmie Valley.

Recipe: Bar-B-Cups

BAR-B-CUPS
2 tins of round biscuits
3/4 lb. of ground beef
1/2 cup of BBQ Sauce
1 tablespoon dried minced onions
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Stretch biscuits and fit into greased muffin tins.  Brown the beef and drain.  Add BBQ sauce, onion and brown sugar and mix.  Spoon into muffin tins.  Sprinkle with cheese and bake 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees.

Storm Front BBQ Sauce

Storm Front BBQ Sauce

Convergence Zone Cellars’ Storm Front BBQ sauce for our famous Storm Front Meatballs.  Just whip up this tasty sauce and combine with the meatballs of your choice.  Drink the remaining wine while you cook or with dinner.

Ingredients:
3 Tblsp butter
3/4 cup onion
2 minced garlic
1- 1/2 cups Storm Front wine
3/4 cup ketchup
2 Tblsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp liquid smoke

Directions:
Melt the butter and saute the chopped onions and garlic until translucent.  Add in all but 2 Tblsp of wine and bring to a boil. Reduce to about 1/3 cup.

Reduce heat and add ketchup, brown sugar and liquid smoke. Simmer 10 minutes until rich and thick. 
Remove from heat and stir in the 2 Tblsp of saved wine.

Sauce will keep in refrigerator for 3 weeks or can be frozen.

WINE OF THE WEEK: ROSE'
Week 2 of Taste Washington Wine Month officially features Chardonnay.  Since we don't make a Chardonnay, our Week 2 featured wine is Rose'.  Actually, two rose's.  From March 8-14, get 10% off purchase of 4 or more bottles of the 2019 Three Forks Rose' of Pinot Gris and/or 2019 Fly Rod Cellars Pink Pollywog Rose' of Mourvedre.  (Wine Club discounts also apply).  

FOOD PAIRING: SALAD 
Take-Out: Both rose's are a tasty pairing with salads of all kinds.  Order an Apple-Walnut Salad for take-out from Wildflower Bistro in North Bend.
